Jonathan Albert received his Master’s in Fine Arts at the Actors Studio Drama School at the New School University and was inducted as a Lifetime Member of the Actors Studio in 2005. As a professor of theatre arts since 2010, Jonathan has taught acting, playwriting, directing and theatre history at Pace University, Union College, University at Albany and SUNY Adirondack.

At Union College, Jonathan founded UC Theatre Everywhere, an immersive theatre project based on Charlie Todd’s Improv Everywhere. Students performed extant theatre scenes as immersive theatrical performances at pop-up locations around Union College campus. 

As a writer, Jonathan’s work has been performed at The Amazing Playwright’s Festival at Manhattan Repertory Theatre. He also worked as an ensemble writer and performer at The Michael Checkhov Theatre Company.

Jonathan starred in the network soap, As the World Turns on CBS Television. As a member of Actor’s Equity, favorite roles included: Isaac in Disgraced by Ayad Akhtar at Chester Theatre Company, Baylis in Blackbird by Adam Rapp at Michael Chekhov Theatre Company, and Stu in Chicago and Cowboys #2 by Sam Shepard at Common Basis Theatre in Manhattan.

Favorite directing credits include: The Laramie Project, An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein and Twelve, his own adaptation of Twelve Angry Men. Jonathan also wrote and directed Pyscho Pirate, based on the DC comic book hero. In collaboration with Nicole Coady, Jonathan wrote and directed The Christmas Carol Experience and collaborated on The All Hallows’ Eve Dracula Masquerade.

From 2008 to 2018, Jonathan owned and operated Putnam Den, a 500-person live music venue in downtown Saratoga Springs, NY – home to local, regional and nationally performing bands, live entertainment and theatre. After selling the venue in 2018, Jonathan shifted focus to visual storytelling, working in development for Adirondack Studios, the global scenic design and fabrication firm. Project included: Priceless: The Rock, a partnership with MasterCard and Spring Studios Tribeca, Five Echoes, a collaboration with Es Devlin and Chanel at Miami’s Art Basel, Citrovia at Brookfield Properties Manhattan West as well as projects with The Metropolitan Opera, Signature Theatre and Moment Factory on SuperReal at 25 Broadway.
Currently, Jonathan is the Director of Production for Star Group Productions and Great Hall Entertainment, running production for the Cipriani Landmark Collection venues across New York City, including Cipriani 42ndSt. Ballroom, 55 Wall St., Cipriani South St. and 25 Broadway.

Jonathan is a founding member of Never More Immersive.
